Reading has become a new-found passion and hobby for me. This year I've read at least six books. For serious readers, I know my mere six books may be a joke, but since I generally read only one book per year, this increase is a pretty significant change for me.
I like reading books written by people whose faith has been stretched in unimaginable ways. It expands my imagination about the possibilities. I also love gaining insight from those who have gone before me.
Undoubtedly, each book I have read this year has deeply enriched many areas of my life. As I entertained the thought of writing an actual book, I gave serious consideration to what topic I could possibly write a book about. I have a strong desire to enrich the lives of others just as much.
My topic search yielded little results, but the thought led me to a different thought...
Many books are written from the perspective of the light side of the tunnel. Many of us also formulate insights in that way, from being on the other side of the experience, when the struggle, questions, situation is dealt with, answered or resolved. But what do we do now, in the middle, when we don't see as clearly, don't have all the answers and don't know how to respond to a specific situation?

I love that we can look back and trace lessons learned, or look through the rear-view mirror of our lives and recall places and times where we see evidence of God's faithfulness. And I also love that there are a lot of hidden treasures to be found as we journey along. I want to find those treasures, reflect upon them in the present, write about them and let that be my contribution.
The Journey in the Middle is a journey of trust and of finding joy in the process. It stems from a desire to help myself and others increase our awareness of God's presence in the present and to recognize His love, particularly in times and spaces when it is not necessarily felt or seen, and things are not at all figured out.
It is my greatest hope that my reflections and songs in this blog can help us find beauty in the metamorphosis.
