I received an email from Vicki, a professor at a Texas university, with the following note attached:
She waited almost a year to send me the gentle reminder, which I had written to myself the previous year after attending her presentation "Artful Work: Inspiring Creativity and Innovation in Social Work Practice" at the National Association for Social Workers Conference in 2012.
At the end of the presentation, we all wrote letters to ourselves about something we wanted to be reminded about at some point in the future. Though I buried the note in my work inbox, this note to self has been hidden and stirring in my heart since the moment I wrote it, waiting to spring up at the proper time.
August 6, 2018 will mark exactly five years since the day I received Vicki's note. The stirring for me is not necessarily to write a book, but to write, to share hope with others and to channel my creativity in a way I didn't think was possible.
This is just the beginning of this journey, and also the middle of the journey I've been on. I invite you to join me in the beginning and in the middle...
