Mercy

We have a way of writing people off especially when we see that they don’t change, don’t produce what we need from them or we simply do not like them.

Meanwhile, the God who is Holy and cannot stand to be in the presence of sin, yearns for the sinful heart to repent and turn to him. “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. Thank Him for that.

He wants the sinner to seek Him. When he does, God does what He does best - extend mercy. Micah 7:18 says this “Who is a God like you, who pardons sin and forgives the transgression of the remnant of his inheritance? You do not stay angry forever but delight to show mercy.”

Friday's focus was for God to draw people to Himself in sincere repentance. In the reading, I was reminded of the day He drew me to Him and extended His tender mercy. Every morning, according to Lamentations 3:22-23, we receive new mercies. He delights in showing in mercy!

He also reminded me that our ability to seek Him is temporary. There will be a day when He will not be found. It would be in our best interest to pray and seek not just in thanksgiving for the mercy we have received, but also for the mercy and healing we would like for our loved to receive today while He may be found.
