Unity & Peace

Unity takes effort and a lot of humility. It requires placing relationship above being right. It requires co-submission, understanding and embracing our God-given differences.

As Paul speaks to Ephesus, he instructs them to keep the unity of the Spirit, and then tells them how - through the bond they have with Jesus. They may have differing opinions, but when Jesus is at the center, He brings forth peace. Jesus is peace.

When unity is achieved amongst us, we also achieve unity with the Father and become Jesus’ answered prayer in John 17:21. Moreover, not only do we reflect the nature of God, but also become the expression of God’s love to the world, so they may believe in the One God sent and lives in us.

Unity, then, is a blessing to the believer and also a testimony to the non-believer. Perhaps, if we want to see people come to Christ we can start by making an effort to live in peace with the brethren.

If you're praying with me, focus your prayer on churches coming together in fellowship and working together in love.
