My sister has been married for approximately 31 years. I know her marriage has not been easy and yet I marvel at her and her husband’s persistence.
I have known her husband since I was seven years old. He is not even my brother-in-law; he is my beloved brother. I know their marriage is not about me, but if their marriage ever ended, I would be devastated.
Today’s focus is to pray for God’s healing touch upon marriages and broken families. Would you take sometime today to pray?
I married at the age of 20, and within a year I was divorced. Divorce is mentally, physically, spiritually, and financially damaging. I hate to admit it, but 18 years later, I still must confront the consequences of marrying prematurely and divorcing at such a pivotal time in my young life. I hate divorce and would not wish it on my worst enemy.
I have never met a couple who, having been married for more than two decades, says that their marriage has been… peachy. They all consistently say that the success of their marriage is purely measured by their capacity to forgive.
Pray for love and forgiveness to prevail in the marriages you are praying for, for God to heal covenants that have been broken and vows that have been violated and for God to provide the help that each couple needs to heal their wounds and restore their families.
